My Teaching Philosophy:
(For my ITLS 4015 class)

I wanted to become a teacher because I love working with children! However, I never really considered teaching. I wanted to be a pediatrician or a pediatric orthodontist or dentist or something more along those lines. When I got to USU I still didn't know what I want to do. I was eventually forced to choose a major and "sper-of-the moment" chose Elementary Education. So, I guess by default I am becoming a teacher. Although it was not a well thought out plan at first, I have thought about it a lot since then and am very happy with my decision. Through my practicum experience I have realized I really enjoy teaching and I am actually really good at it.

My plans for teaching are to create a classroom environment that is safe and encourages learning. I want my students to want to come to school and to have fun while learning. I want them to want to continue learning the rest of their lives. I want place my students on the path for success. I not only want them to succeed in my class, but to gain the knowledge, confidence, and love for learning necessary to succeed in life.
